This is part 3 of our ‘walkthrough of a trip’ illustrating why women are scared to travel.
Part 1 was a general introduction.
Part 2 covered Find the trip you want, we’ll walk through the itinerary to identify scary parts. 1- Did the luggage arrive? 2-Is someone there to meet me? 3-If my plane is delayed, should I get hysterical?

Why Are Solo Women Scared to Travel?
Everyday we get calls and emails, some are to book trips and some are to say you are scared to book a trip. Some have booked trips and call to say they are still scared and nervous. Lets take apart a trip and try to experience it ahead of time to take the scared part away.
First here is Phyllis’ first trip alone. I flew to London, made it to the apartment where I was staying. Hungry and nervous about going out for dinner alone at night time, I went a nearby restaurant.…

Who Should NOT go to a Spa-Fitness-Yoga Resort?
Who are these women who go to a spa-fitness-yoga resort with us? I used to think a spa was for spoiled brats or body beautiful spandex groupies. Nope, not true. Phyllis@thewomenstravelgroup.com learned it was for everyone.
You do not have to be fit; classes at Ixtapan are for all levels. Pool classes cater to fit women and those starting to move again. Gym classes are challenging or minimal,as much one can manage. Can’t do 50 minutes, do 15. Haven’t stretched in years?…

TSA and 5 Items Not to Wear or Carry
The Trump Administration is considering 11% cuts in the TSA Budget. If that means faster yet more intrusive searches, women need to rethink what we wear and what we carry. Especially if you are traveling alone on one of our trips, you don’t want to be delayed while your carry on sits away from sight.
Here are items that should be left home, substituted or packed in your suitcase. Here are some tips from The Women’s Travel Group:
The big one: underwired bras.…

Why go to Russia now? Are we welcomed?
The Women’s Travel Group keeps up with on-the-ground situations. We have temporarily suspended our 2nd Iran trip; visas for Americans are on hold. We are going to Russia in July and expect the welcome to be as warm as ever. What veteran travelers know about the brand of ‘being American’, is everyone likes us.
In Cold War years, Americans going to Russia were stared at with envy. We were like movie stars, sporting the latest in jeans and sweatshirts. Today we are just another tour group, with no particular wardrobe.…

Don’t be dumb with your Smart Phone
Many women who travel with The Women’s Travel Group have smartphones; however many are not phone smart.
Recently I was introduced to Whatsapp.com. Whatsapp has been free since the beginning of 2016. I personally hate catchy names for phone jargon and have very few applications on my smartphone. However, Whatsapp has really helped as I travel.
Keep in touch with others in wifi areas (they must be subscribers but you will know, immediately with their phone number). Call someone, it sounds as if you are around the corner.…

Mexico City: Top NYTimes 2016 Destination Solo deal until 1/1/2017
The New York Times Travel Staff solicit pitches from travel writers in the US and overseas, to get to its short list of Top Destinations each year. In 2016 they chose Mexico City as the TOP DESTINATION for the following reasons:
A metropolis that has it all. Colorful culture with futuristic art and traditional murals side by side, Aztec history everywhere, unique architecture, great food, and bargains via a Peso that collapsed along with oil prices. Moreover, Mexico City has more and cheaper flights from North America than ever before including discounters SWAir, Jet Blue and Interjet.…

Why Mexico and Why Never a Cruise to Mexico?
We are the only women’s group with Tours to Mexico. We never cruise there….Why?
There are at least 10 reasons:
Cruise ports are Disney’d ways to enter Mexico. Built for 1,000’s of tourists, loaded on buses, they erase the beauty seeing a pyramidor glimpsing a green parrot in the jungle.
Mexico means value; the US Dollar is 35% higher and $20 will get you an amazing gift.
Fine dining is reasonable and memorable. The number of special restaurants in culinary capitals like Puebla is staggering.…

How to Travel with "Bad Knees"
Every week, we at The Women’s Travel Group hear this: ‘I have some knee problems ‘….knees being a metaphor for limitations. We all have limitations, as our mechanics deteriorate, we just jog too much or we are nervous travelers going solo for the first time.
A few ideas to measure if you can travel with our group:
Do you walk every day for normal errands?
Can you put aside your nerves, lose sleep but learn to travel again in a group?…
