London’s Heathrow Airport Crowds-get your own wine
Like you, I read travel headlines, then probably unlike you, I don’t let them frighten me. London’s Heathrow Airport is in the news with crowds. I was in Heathrow Airport twice recently. Here is personal experience. No hype. No soft pedaling. Just the truth.
One of our many groups to Europe https://www.thewomenstravelgroup.com There was a national rail strike; however, traffic from Central London to the airport was unexpectedly normal. Uber and car service prices were to be surcharged, but ended up average. …

Be a Hedonist in Italy with the Low Euro
The Euro
Go now, the Euro is so low, you can travel like a Hedonist. Yes our group is off to Italy to splurge.
As of yesterday, the Euro fell to near $1, the lowest since 2002 and a steep fall from $1.18 a year ago. What a steal for us going to Europe. Americans are getting a 15% discount in Europe. Shopping meccas like Italy are an especial target for us.
The American Dollar used to be king of currencies; therefore, everyone wanted some under their mattresses.…

Women Lie When Booking a Trip and Traveling
What Women Lie About When Going on a Group Trip
The Women’s Travel Group shares its 30+ years of women’s lies when booking a trip.
I know how to pack. Many women arrive with enormous heavier than rocks suitcases. We recommend two smaller suitcases, one carried on and one checked in. You protect your special items/documents/medicine in the carry on and dump the clothes etc into the airplane hold. If you want to move things around your hotel room and or not wait for a porter, smaller is easier!…

Summer Travel and Flight Attendants Jobs
Summer travel frenzy is upon us; flight attendants will be super busy. Did you know that until last month, Delta flight attendants were not paid until the airplane door closed? Boarding is fraught with anxiety, selfishness and impatience. Flight attendants deserve twice their pay for this part of the journey. Disgraceful for an industry we bailed out with $billions.
Our group in Georgia at an artists atelier https://www.thewomenstravelgroup.com/contact/ 50+ flying years and most with The Women’s Travel Group gives me great respect for flight staff.…

Be a Bus not Bust Girl
Our company provides transfers. When traveling alone, this writer loves Public Transportation: buses, subways, monorails, shuttles, ferries. In the US, bus still means the seedy bus station or rowdy college kids. Subway connotes anti social behavior. Shuttles take too long. Ferries have questionable bathrooms. But if you are overseas in any major European city, try the public transportation. You will save money with public transportation, and move quickly.
Heathrow Express Overseas, public transportation is used by all classes of travelers. In many cities public transportation is available for distances like airport to town or central bus station to ex-urbs.…

Overseas safety was better than in my hometown.
I just returned from our first Women’s Travel Group trip over the Atlantic since early 2020. I felt safer in Dubai than in New York.
Airport: Everyone was excited to be traveling again and yes was masked. Our airline, Emirates, required a PCR test. I went on Yelp.com and found a local pharmacy, where the test was less money, with results next day. I booked on line. At the store, a pharmacist swabbed my nostrils. Next day I got an email with the needed document. Easy.…

Vaccine Passport: Proof or Spoof?
For the first time ever, I was asked for proof of vaccination in a Vaccine Passport. The ‘ask’ was by the receptionist at a private club in Manhattan. My CDC card is locked away. Therefore, as proof, I presented an iPhone with the New York State app, Excelsior Pass. I was permitted to take off the mask. Friends with no smart phone or CDC cards had to wear masks until seated. We felt like haves and the have nots. It reminded us of a scene from ‘A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to The Forum’, the hilarious Mel Brooks movie.…
