How To Travel and Not be a Wreck
Rest up two weeks before your trip. Do not leave a wreck.
Pack only essentials. Leave home any item you love. Not worrying about losing or leaving possessions is a relief.
Get to the airport extra early; find a quiet seat even if not at your gate. Regroup with a book or game.
On the plane, do some stretching. What better an airline than Qantas to recommend: https://www.qantas.com/us/en/travel-info/travel-advice/your-health-inflight.html
At the hotel, again do simple stretches and walk around the hotel area to wake yourself up.…

History is the cook in Sicily
There is no better food on earth…than you will eat on our Sicily trip March 19-29 2020
There is no better food on earth…than you will eat on our Sicily trip March 19-29 2020
The March climate is warmed by mild Mediterranean breezes. Over the centuries Sicilian food was influenced by the Greeks, Spanish, French, Arabs and New World. In fact, the first cookbook with a known named author was written by a Sicilian cook in 5th century BC.
Here is what history cooks for our trip to Sicily and Malta
The Arabs donate apricots, spices, sugar, citrus, saffron and tropical fruits.…

Is Travel Scarier than Learning to Drive?
Are you afraid to take your first trip with our group or anyone else? Many women admit yes. Women of our age have surmounted first steps and survived, often with a terrific high and new self importance.
First day of school? I was 5 and it was first grade in a New York public school: Public School 9. I recall the teacher clearly: a nice middle aged Mrs. Levine with a soft voice and tricks to get us engaged.…

Don’t be dumb with your Smart Phone
Many women who travel with The Women’s Travel Group have smartphones; however many are not phone smart.
Recently I was introduced to Whatsapp.com. Whatsapp has been free since the beginning of 2016. I personally hate catchy names for phone jargon and have very few applications on my smartphone. However, Whatsapp has really helped as I travel.
Keep in touch with others in wifi areas (they must be subscribers but you will know, immediately with their phone number). Call someone, it sounds as if you are around the corner.…

The Best $9.99 Christmas Gift
For some of you out there, please go buy yourself a world MAP. Why do we say this as we end our 25th year at The Women’s Travel Group? Besides enthusiastic and upbeat travelers who join us, there are women who are shockingly and narrowly informed about our world.
A woman called who did not book Russia because of “the wars”. We asked her what wars? She said, “my family says there are wars there”. Unless she is related to John Kerry, our US Secretary of State, I don’t think her family is privy to secret information about ‘wars’.…

Women’s vs Men’s Travel
Yes The Women’s Travel Group Bucket List is gender specific.I write this as a wife with two sons who were born overseas and traveled with me a bunch. Women are different.
Women thrill at exotic and unusual, but we must have a comfortable hotels and decent bathrooms during the tour.
We will experiment with food. But we must have a hearty breakfast, more vegetables, at least one recognizable main dish and dessert!
We like to learn. However walking tours cannot be too long; museum visits must end at absolute maximum 90 minutes.…

How to Travel with "Bad Knees"
Every week, we at The Women’s Travel Group hear this: ‘I have some knee problems ‘….knees being a metaphor for limitations. We all have limitations, as our mechanics deteriorate, we just jog too much or we are nervous travelers going solo for the first time.
A few ideas to measure if you can travel with our group:
Do you walk every day for normal errands?
Can you put aside your nerves, lose sleep but learn to travel again in a group?…
