• What I learned when caught in a dangerous riot

Yes I was in a dangerous riot along with a member of our group. Here is what happened and what we learned.  We decided to follow pedestrians all walking in one direction. Perhaps there was market? festival? parade? We ended up facing a large square, empty except for a line of men and women. Was this a parade?  We quickly noticed another line moving forward; it was one of armed police. It took a moment to realize there was going to be a confrontation.

  • Do You Still Need a Paper Ticket?

Do You Still Need a Paper Ticket?

Do you need a written paper ticket anymore? This is an older blog post but women still ask us.

Yes you might.  Having said that, it can be hard to even get a paper ticket anymore and some airlines only accept electronic tickets. There are  important numbers on your written ticket and the receipt/itinerary for an electronic ticket. The easy one is called a PNR and is a record of your actual reservation.  Once your reservation is confirmed and paid, you will be sent this number.

  • LOW and NO Tech Travel Hints- for Women Travelers

Each time I see an article about travel technology, my brain melts. Most of us, of a certain age, are just not interested in technology. Yes, we want a smartphone that works, wifi information and maybe a GPS. Beyond that, we just want a written document with all the details of our trip.

If you do not know how to operate your phone, stop right here and go to the Apple Store or wherever you bought it and learn basics.

Reasons to Leave Friends Home for Women Travelers

Most of us do not have friends who travel. If you are lucky to have friends who like to travel, you are also unlucky since you are pressured to compromise. We are pleased to show you photos of a few of our trips. Many more trips are listed on http://www.thewomenstravelgroup.com. The reason we are sharing these photos is to show women out there that we are regular, all ages, all backgrounds. We are also all casual.

Some things you cannot tell from the photos are:

We come from all over the US and Canada.

Some women here had never traveled overseas before.

Most knew no one on the trip!
