Indecisive friends: URGHHH
The photo is of a mansion in India where we stopped for a buffet lunch.
Words of truth from The Women’s Travel Group.
Here are the most common excuses friends use for avoiding your invitation to travel:
Number 1 ‘Let me think about it’. (time frame is ‘never’)
Number 2 ‘Let me try to get an ff ticket’. (that puts worth on you, your friendship is worth 50,000 miles or $550.)
Number 3 ‘My family doesn’t want me to go’. …

Age and Travel: Who is Too Old?
Gentle Yoga in India October 2014. Some watched and some stretched.
We were asked this week does The Women’s Travel Group have an age limit on the upper end. As you know, we have women from 30-???. What are the health standards to not just come but come and have fun?
++ Did you ask The Women’s Travel Group about distances of walking, driving etc on the itinerary you like?
++ Are you mobile in your daily life? Can you handle steps without a bannister?…

Changing Money Overseas
The Euro is at a low (that is since it was created). But when you as a tourist try to change money it is not 1.15 but 1.40! What are the best ways to change money if you go to France with us end March?
The more you change the better the rate as a service charge amortizes better. Most of us do not carry enough cash to make a difference this way.
Change Bureaux in town are generally better than banks or airport venues.…

What is the best first solo trip?
Let’s face it, many readers of our blog and Facebook page do not actually travel solo, but are dreaming of doing it. Here is what we think is the best first trip and some guidelines to adapt to your mind set.
A single stay trip might be less work than a multi city tour. Our March 21-29 Tuscany luxury farmhouse trip is an example of an easy adjustment: staying in a beautiful farmhouse, with wifi, free laundry, snacks and drinks in the kitchen etc.…

Nervous Nellies Read Here
A personal note from Phyllis Stoller. “My father started life as a traveling salesman. He started a business and worked a 24/7 schedule, before that was the thing to do. Of course, that meant rarely going on vacation and never taking trips. Well, he did play golf all the time. My mother outlived him by 15 years in good health and with financial security, thanks to Dad’s constant work schedule.
Here is what she told me in her very short list of life’s regrets: I wish I had traveled.…

Why a Private Villa is a Perfect Trip
In March 2015 we return to our private farmhouse in Tuscany for another week of sightseeing, cooking, eating and laughing. The villa is 40 minutes from Pisa, has 11 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, 3 living rooms, with tv and comfy furniture, several wonderful farmhouse tables for our meals, wifi, and acres of vineyards and forest. All the rooms are charmingly decorated, and huge for solos--the trip has no single supplements- we all get single rooms.
We never saw a boar, but were assured they were our neighbors.…

Five Travel Habits to Erase Today!
We all have some irritating habits and there are 5 travelers must get rid of in order to have the best trip.
1- Second guessing the guide: guides take travelers all the time, truly they know best when it comes to doing their job.2-Overpacking and asking others to help: if you must bring your rock collection…. do not expect others in our group to help you carry it
3-Always being late: we are a pretty punctual group of women, but from time to time we need to chase someone up.…

What is a non Plastic Visa?
Since we had this question from some women going to India with us in October,:here is a primer on visas.
To enter foreign countries, (or for non citizens to enter the US), travelers need a visa. If you look at your passport, you will see pages called Visa Pages. For many countries, US Citizens only need to have their passports stamped when they arrive overseas-that stamp is a visa. For Morocco for Thanksgiving, US citizens get their visa stamp on arrival easily.…

Women Do not Treat Themselves to Travel
Why is it that most women do not treat themselves to travel, but will splurge the same money on clothes? weekly hair? insane shoes? or on their grandchildren????
It is time to treat yourself and if looking for a special item, try one of the nation’s most famous resorts: Canyon Ranch Health Resort, during the peak week for changing leaves in New England.
Three decisions you need to make:
1- Will this kind of trip last longer in changing my lifestyle?…

Love your FF miles; hate the rules?
Try insuring them when you use ff miles! If you have to cancel a trip and redeposit your miles, you will need to pay a fee. Last time I paid it was $150 to Delta but that might be higher now.
Our insurance now covers the redeposit cost, any change fee on your flights and more.
Now if your airline changes the flight on you; you usually have the right to get miles back with NO fee. You might have to call them and ask for the supervisor, but you will avoid a fee.…
