This article is paraphrased from Travel Insured, The Women’s Travel Group adds real life examples. The examples are not guarantees, but real women in real dilemmas.
Popular myths about travel insurance are the reason travelers do not invest in insurance. Some of you tell us your credit card will cover you. Not entirely true.
Myth #1
If you have a credit card you don’t need to buy travel insurance.Travel protection through credit card companies usually covers certain accidents and only costs paid with that card.…

Airlines Ready to Bash Us Again
In the last years airline fuel dropped 24% and fuel surcharges have not dropped 1%. So what is going on here?
Airlines are profiting from keeping surcharges which were as high as $600 round trip NY-London. Airlines now call these ‘international fees’ but they are the same old fuel surcharges. Airlines are still nickel and dime-ing us on checked baggage, food, lounge access; they are practically weighing us.
I have flown American on Business Class to Mexico City from NY many times.…

The Best Nail Biting 1st Trip-Ireland
Your first nail biting trip without friends/family.Ireland
Your first trip by yourself should be chosen carefully. Here is why Ireland is the best first trip with The Women’s Travel Group.
Short direct to Dublin flight, less travel fatigue and less initial angst which effects all of us but more, if this is your first solo trip. A little over 6 hours from JFK makes Ireland our closest neighbor besides Portugal.
English speaking, with a lilt and a smile. Obviously this means instructions from airport staff, hotel concierges, wait staff, taxi drivers are in your language.…

Women's Tour or Women's Travel Club?
What is the difference between The Women’s Travel Group and its former incarnation as The Women’s Travel Club? Obviously no dues. What differentiates The Women’s Travel Group from a basic tour company is fivefold:We update all the time (Louis Vuitton Foundation Museum is in our Paris Christmas trip)
We are not afraid to examine history: (Ireland and Northern Ireland in July).
We like to question speakers: (India November, why not pose the question of rape in India?).… -
1 in 4 Women Take Psychiatric Drugs
This photo is from our Ethiopia trip; next trip Jan. 2016
According to the NY Times Week in Review Section, 1 in 4 American women take drugs for psychiatric problems. Does that mean a quarter of us are nuts? Will newcomers find women at The Women’s Travel Group intolerably neurotic? History with hundreds of terrific travelers says yes/no/maybe?
Most women worry about travel the night before they leave.
Most women angst about packing, travel wardrobe a way of saying: will I fit in?…

Too Nervous to Travel?
Can travel be fun for Nervous Nellies? Yes for some. No for others. Let’s face it, some women just do better in their environment and home. Others yearn to travel but are scared of flying? Being a solo but in a group? Not being understood? Concerned about jet lag? About unusual food? and Yes about toilet access.
Food and toilets are specifically women’s concerns. Food worries us since we are diet conscious and these days have more allergies: gluten, sugar, seeds, eggs, peanuts… Asking for a specific diet is as easy as forewarning our staff at The Women’s Travel Group.…

Share left on Cote D'Azur
Our policy at The Women’s Travel Group is to offer share guarantees on our trips; if someone is not matched, they often get a no supplement single. What is the worst that can happen if you share?
1- You might find out you are the messier packer?
2- You might learn about new expensive habits that will cost you; that is how I learned about $$$ Frederic Fekkai hair products from travel mate.
3- You might have to ask for a second room key?…

Global Entry: Jump the Queue
Resting for a minute in a Roman theater in Taormina, Sicily.
There were huge crowds at a local airport which propelled me finally to get Global Entry, the $100 a year queue jump security system for airports here. If you think you might be traveling this year and have that spare $100, go for it. Global Entry allows you to stroll up to a computer terminal, apply your information ( finger prints or whatever) and walk through immigration.…

On Line Reviews: How to Tell if Fake?
The Women’s Travel Group takes on line review seriously. We encourage you to check all our hotels on sites like TripAdvisor.com However a tiny percentage are clearly faked.
Here are the ways to tell if an on line review is fake:
Review posted by someone who has no other reviews.
Fake reviews use more superlatives in descriptions.
The word ‘I’ is used more than ‘we’.
Fake hotel reviews do not describe the rooms or the spacial information about the hotel.Reviews about expensive hotels are longer than those about cheap hotels.…
