  • Five Dumb Things Women Take on Vacation

August 5, 2013 / India travel, single supplement waiver, singles vacations, solo travel, tours for women, women's travel

Too many shoes! Only take one pair that never ever hurt no matter how much you walk or how swollen your feet get. And one light pair for dinner wear.

Big bottles of shampoo and/or conditioner. Hair will recover in 2 shampoos when you get home. Take small bottles of conditioner but label them so you don’t slather your face with a hair product because you forgot what you packed

Books: yikes are we not over this yet? Book worms learn to use electronic devices for the sake of weight.…

  • Do Women Buy New Clothes for Vacation?

August 2, 2013 / India travel, Pushkar Camel tours, singles vacations, solo travel, tours for women, women's travel

Unfortunately, we do. Anticipation for your vacation often means shopping, even if just for a new tee shirt or other. Why do we do this?

Some are women coming solo and they want to make an impression- who even notices?  Others feel that shopping pre-trip is part of the fantasy of travel. Shopping starts the actual trip experience as we dream and anticipate.  Heh, Ladies!!!!

Here is what we should really be doing!

    — Getting rest and ready for jet lag.…

  • Ten Ways to Get in Trouble on Vacation

August 1, 2013 / India travel, Pushkar Camel tours, singles vacations, solo travel, The Women's Travel Group, tours for women, women's travel

Ten Ways To Get in Trouble on Your Vacation

    From The Women’s Travel Group

You wear jewelry even gold-colored costume jewelry.

You do not put our IPad in a bigger bag in airport security.

You do not empty your wallet of a department store and other credit cards useless overseas.

You leave your valuables near your airline seat when you use the facilities.

You wear clothing or large baggage tags, which identifies you to strangers (football team hat?)

You let your guard down in places that feel safe like museums or private galleries.…

  • Travel Agents Rarely Sell Women's Tours: Why?

August 1, 2013 / India travel, Pushkar Camel tours, single supplement waiver, singles vacations, solo travel, The Women's Travel Group, tours for women, women's travel

It is perplexing that so few travel agents cater to the executive women’s  leisure market. Here is what we think about this enigma.

There are few tours available, that fit agents’ need for licensed and professionally organized trips. Scan the net and how many women’s tour companies are IATAN licensed? Are part of industry recognized travel leaders? Or even offer agent commissions?

Women like myself, and you who read this blog, may call your agent for a solo trip, but will likely be told that they do not have answers for you. …

  • Free E-Guidebooks for E-Idiots

July 19, 2013 / India travel, Pushkar Camel tours, single supplement waiver, singles vacations, solo travel, The Women's Travel Group, travel clubs, women's travel

I think I finally ‘got’ the NY Public Library e-system. The system is hard to decipher; worse, when you think you have the book and download it, it goes into cyberspace whatever that means. In regular language, here is How to Download a Guidebook (or any book) from the New York Public Library to your IPad and iPhone.

a-Make sure you have an active Amazon account.
b-Download Kindle Cloud Reader Application onto your Ipad and iPhone directly from Amazon.  Don’t worry about what an application is, just download it and your device will be able to accept e-books.…

  • Falls with Water not Bruises

July 18, 2013 / Argentina travel, India travel, overseas adventure travel for women, Pushkar Camel tours, single supplement waiver, singles vacations, solo travel, women's travel

I am about to see my fourth major waterfall in August with our tour to Argentina.
Here is the list so far:

Victoria Falls and make sure you have time,as there is also game viewing in that area.

Angel Falls in a remote area of Venezuela, but this magnificent territory is no longer easy to visit. We did a group tour there years ago–a million acres of rain forest.

Blue Nile Falls is in Ethiopia and our group visited in March of this year.…

  • Woman's Day Prints Disputed Article about Travel Agents

July 17, 2013 / India travel, Pushkar Camel tours, single supplement waiver, solo travel, The Women's Travel Group, women's travel

I like women’s magazines and read them (one happy reason to see the dentist). My colleagues at SITA World Tours pointed out an article in Woman’s Day which niggled.

The article is “9 Things Travel Agents Won’t Tell You” by Anne Roderique-Jones. Every consumer-driven article is good for the public. But this one had so many misinterpretations, it screamed for a response. The author faults agents for being commission-based, for not going everywhere they sell, for hawking un-needed insurance, etc. Here is my response for what it takes.…
