Travel Agents Rarely Sell Women's Tours: Why?
It is perplexing that so few travel agents cater to the executive women’s leisure market. Here is what we think about this enigma.
There are few tours available, that fit agents’ need for licensed and professionally organized trips. Scan the net and how many women’s tour companies are IATAN licensed? Are part of industry recognized travel leaders? Or even offer agent commissions?
Women like myself, and you who read this blog, may call your agent for a solo trip, but will likely be told that they do not have answers for you. …

Free E-Guidebooks for E-Idiots
I think I finally ‘got’ the NY Public Library e-system. The system is hard to decipher; worse, when you think you have the book and download it, it goes into cyberspace whatever that means. In regular language, here is How to Download a Guidebook (or any book) from the New York Public Library to your IPad and iPhone.
a-Make sure you have an active Amazon account.
b-Download Kindle Cloud Reader Application onto your Ipad and iPhone directly from Amazon. Don’t worry about what an application is, just download it and your device will be able to accept e-books.… -
Falls with Water not Bruises
I am about to see my fourth major waterfall in August with our tour to Argentina.
Here is the list so far:Victoria Falls and make sure you have time,as there is also game viewing in that area.
Angel Falls in a remote area of Venezuela, but this magnificent territory is no longer easy to visit. We did a group tour there years ago–a million acres of rain forest.

Are Women 'Travel Victims'?
News about crime abroad seems to focus on women. Though rape in India is less frequent than in most developed countries, the press covers it disproportionately. The latest article about an unfortunate American woman in India, who was raped, includes that she got into a truck with three strange men. Obviously she did not deserve to be raped or hurt anyway, but would you get into a truck with strangers of any type and anywhere?
My issue with the coverage is that the media uses her case to publish endless articles about women and safety, describing us victims.…

Cancelling your Vacation to Turkey?
The question is always the same: is news on a headline or a reality that will prevent you from a safe trip? Here are some guidelines to follow:
—–Find out if your travel insurer has qualms or is no longer insuring trips to Turkey.
—–Ask your operator if all their departures are going ahead as planned.
—–Look up UK, Canadian, or other English speaking Foreign Government advice on the area for tourists. Each country will have a different take on the situation.… -
Why you still see The Women's Travel Club on line
We have tried to notify each site that mentions our old company to update their records. It is quite amazing how many of these sites are not monitored by humans who keep their copy clean. Anyway, if you know of other former member of WTC, please spread the word that we are organizing the great trips we used to do for all those happy years. Our site is www.thewomenstravelgroup.com.
Anyone who used to be a member, gets a $100 gift when they book Argentina.…

Theft on Airplanes Strikes Women
Theft on planes remains an issue. Women, especially, are the victims. We think that carry on is the be all and end all. We trust passengers merely because they could afford a ticket. Finally we feel ‘safe; in the confines of a plane’s cabin. Theft on airplanes is fairly common. Most companies do not cover you for theft in the airplane cabin.
Some mistakes women make are here in no particular order.
Women experience theft on airplanes, because they leave their valuables near their seats, even when they leave the seat.…

Working Women and travel
This dilemma came up at a meeting of professional women in New York last week. Here are the five main reasons professional women have no travel friends.
We are too busy working to take time to develop close friends.
We use non office time for our families and our health (ie gym classes)
We forget how to talk about non-business topics and/or relax into friendly banter.
We do not belong to the day time activities, non-working counterparts use for networking.
We make last minute vacation decisions to fit work leaving no time to locate a travel pal.…
