Thinking of Paris before the Olympics? Act now.

That is a smart thought. Before an Olympic, cities have to pass a tight audit well in advance of their dates. The audit covers their ability to host a major event: infrastructure, transportation, hotels, security, and such.

The benefits of hosting the games are huge: employment and a gigantic boost in tourism. The city  builds new arenas and cleans up older ones. Most Olympic cities create an entire new area for the Games.  Much of the new construction remains to help tourism well after the Games.

Examples from other cities are:

The major Athens stadium was enhanced by Santiago Calatrava one of the ‘starchitects’ to include a magnificent arches.

Barcelona transformed itself. Barcelona overhauled its waterfront, and brought in starchitects like Frank Gehry, Norman Foster and Calatrava to rebuilt and glamorize the city.

London up’ed twitter so officials could broadcast traffic and news during the Games. An area of old warehouses and dirty canals was transformed into a ‘hot’ neighborhood with lofts and waterways. Some of the best shopping lies in the new mall here.

So what can we expect if we visit Paris now? Prices that are still affordable. It is expected that prices will rise beginning in March 2024 as Olympic staff start arriving. Generally once prices rise, they stay high! Currently the Euro is low and prices remain fair.

The Seine will be the passageway for the famous Olympic parade. The bridges and Seine embankment are already breath-taking. They will be more so after a $1.5billon investment. Cobbles are being repaired. Monuments are sand blasted. Royal squares  refitted.

Paris is one of the only cities that will use itself as the main event. No new Olympic city is needed when Paris is already the most beautiful city in Europe.

Visit Paris before the Games; our next trip is in November. Weather still mild. Prices very fair. And a whole week to see it all without exhaustion. Limited space left. One room share needed.
