What women don’t know about visiting The Emirates and Oman
The UAE and Oman are the safest countries for anyone, including women.
There is little pick pocketing and little street crime. As anywhere, be vigilant anyway.
Alcohol is only served in hotels; there is virtually no drunken street behavior.
North American women are welcomed and liked. With locals, no question is off the table! Here we are dining with 2 Emirati women asking anything, and we mean anything.
Bathrooms on the road and general food sanitation are both to our standards.
Christians are 13% of the population and Jewish population rapidly growing, especially with new diplomacy with Israel. The area is multi ethnic and multi religious.
No special clothes needed; just avoid ultra skimpy shorts and tops. In 1-2 mosques you need a scarf or a loaner long dress.
Women tourists are common. No one will stare at you.
Women in business are common. You are treated with respect.
If you like to shop, local women will also be shopping. You will not stand out.
Finally, taxis and Uber are safe.
You can relax on our Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman trip from arrival into magnificent Dubai Airport until departure. One caveat: if shopping in these areas, you will over indulge- there is too much to want.
