Can you take the first solo trip? A test from award winning, The Women’s Travel Group.
Can you do the trip physically? Try walking a mile, which is 20 times the length of Saks Fifth Avenue’s famous 6th Floor shoe department. We are not talking run or rush, just walk.
Can you drag your suitcase from the taxi/car to airline check in? Next time you load up on Tide pods at your supermarket, push the wagon with one hand? Can’t or don’t want to drag a suitcase , have $5 for the airport porter. (Note: Our trips include hotel porterage.)
Can you travel coach then use the saved cash for ‘stuff’? Here is your test? Watch a 120 minute movie on TV, seated in a dining chair with another chair’s back 30-35 inches from your seat back. That is the range for least expensive economy seats. In a plane the distance between seat backs is called seat pitch. Some airlines have widen pitch than others. Ask us for help in deciding seat class of service. We’ll leave the decision to you about spending the extra savings.
Can you see overhead signs ? First take off your reading glasses. Did you know most airports have signage in English, as well as in the local language? So if you feel lost, look again for the signs. Really lost, and ask for a wheel chair to get you to the gate.
Do you understand the itinerary you booked? AI will help you; but you need to know what AI is…. Research travel vocabulary as in room and board? en suite bathroom? hotel stars? code share? base fare? American plan vs. European plan? day room?
Are you easily impressed by ‘fancy marketing words? Bespoke? Juliet or French balcony? e- ticket? Geotourism? Don’t be. Your trip is not words, it should be experiences.
Are you credit card catatonic? More purchases are done by credit card overseas. Apply for your Visa or Mastercard today-AMEX is less used. Get a PIN. Learn to love the ATM. Still catatonic? Ask one of us to stand with you at the ATM. We won’t look at your PIN.
Do you have a budget for extras? Here you need to count up what is not included, ask how much meals or drinks might cost in your destination. Add in money for occasional water or wine. PS: save on the latter, buy in a convenience store or market rather than the hotel.
Do you want extra days? If you are a newbie to travel, we suggest adding extra days at the end of the tour. You are less tired, more experienced.
Our trips include 2 meals daily, porterage at hotels, water on the bus and at many meals. We do not hike or climb difficult inclines and we like to answer questions. Upcoming are SE Asia. Cuba, Mexico City, Mexico Spa/Fitness Weeks and much more.
