Chargers for phone and iPads. Hoteliers say chargers are often left in the wall, bathroom socket or behind a bureau or end table. If joining us to Tuscany for Cooking April-May 2024, you’ll be taking a lot of photos. Pack extras.
Suitcase locks. It is so easy to remove the lock, put it down and lose it. TSA compliant locks are hard to find overseas. On our solo river cruise in July, you’ll be seeing great cities; don’t stop for a lock.

Copy of prescription medicine in generic and any other important papers. Even if them stored in your phone, you might be in a rush or non wifi area when they needed.
Emery boards, who doesn’t hate a hangnail? Bring a few, they disappear, only to reappear when you are home with your ragged nails. In France and Paris, you’ll get extras in supermarkets. Pharmacies sell medicine.
Zip lock or non plastic bags to hold cash, change, liquids, socks… That snack you buy on the street in Rome can garlic-oil up your only extra bag. Pack extras.
Envelopes, they are good for tips, receipts and business cards. Many hotels no longer supply stationery. Paper is ancient.
