Five bad travel trends for Boomer Women and One good one from The Women’s Travel Group.
Business travel is up; no more working in your pajamas at home. This means more corporate flights which eat up business class upgrades.
Airline lounges are full. If you are lucky enough to have access via your credit card or air ticket, still expect a wait to get into the lounge.
Smart tags and baggage. Another electronic alert to worry you. Go with the flow, lost and delayed baggage is a tiny number of total. That number includes damaged or pilfered bags also. Carry on what you absolutely need to survive.Do not pack valuables or medicine or even a big piece of costume jewelry. Overhead space is a grab for all so get on the plane promptly.
Image recognition is it; some airlines do not even look at your passport anymore. Worse than that, you are image recognized. How miserable is that: a lousy passport photo followed by an even lousier gate photo.
Clear and TSA have long lines. Don’t bother buying Clear unless you get it free with you credit card. My experience, a week ago at JFK, was as follows: We were steered to the ground floor. There were 3 Clear machines, 2 were broken. There was an unorganized feeding frenzy for the third. If sent to the arrivals area of JFK, take the elevator or escalator back to departures. Lines move faster and no one will slip your throat.
Domestic ticket prices have dropped 8%. Santa Fe here we come.
International travel is slowing. Tuscany here we come.
